Student: Lyka Buban
Office: DENR

Day 1 to 2: February 12-13, 2024
Task: DCDB Cleansing Records Validation Unit (DCDB-RVU)
Description: Land Survey Records Re-inventoried, Sorted and Groomed(ISG)

The kickoff to my On-the-Job Training at the DENR Record Section involved an intricate task – sorting cadastral maps by case, focusing on specific municipalities outlined in a provided list. The day began with an orientation on the significance of cadastral maps in understanding the geographical evolution of various regions. Armed with a detailed list of municipalities, my fellow interns and I dove into the sorting challenge.

In my first two days at DENR, our primary task has been sorting and organizing cadastral maps, a task we tackled diligently each day. Following a specific order, we began by sorting maps based on cases on the initial day, carefully arranging them one after another to create a systematic sequence. The subsequent days continued this sorting mission, but with a deeper focus on municipalities, including Ocampo, Bagamanoc, Milaor, Pio V. Corpuz, Prieto Diaz, San Fernando Masbate, Vinzons, and Bulusan. It felt like piecing together a puzzle, understanding the unique details each map revealed about different places. Additionally, throughout these days, we took on the responsibility of grooming the maps, ensuring their good condition. Dust and wear were addressed, and any maps in need of fixing were delicately handled. By the end of these two days, the shelves held neatly sorted, groomed, and organized cadastral maps.

Day 3-5: February 14-16 2024

On February 14-16, 2024, my role took an interesting turn when I was instructed to use the Alaris Capture Pro app for scanning papers. Back at the office, my boss initially guided me on the process, demonstrating the steps involved. Once acquainted, I took charge of the task, scanning documents neatly stored in envelopes. Each envelope featured a written label, such as "Tabaco City PSD 05-05-2000," specifying the survey number, province, and municipality – details I learned to recognize.

Inside these envelopes were various documents like lot data, letters of attorney, traverse computations, transmittals, receipts, certificates, and more. Using the Alaris Capture Pro app, the scanning process became a simple and manageable endeavor.

What's noteworthy is that all the scanned documents found a home in a shared space, allowing easy access for everyone on the team. Though initially guided, I soon realized that this seemingly complex task was, in fact, straightforward. Adapting to the change, I embraced the simplicity of the process and recognized the importance of the skills acquired in efficiently managing routine yet essential office tasks.

Day 6: Saturday Office Support - February 17, 2024

On February 15, during our morning meeting, our boss surprised us with the news that we needed to come in on Saturday because there's an audit next Tuesday, and officials from the regional office are dropping by. So, on Saturday, we all pitched in to clean and organize the office. Even though it wasn't part of the plan, our team worked together, dusting shelves and sorting files to ensure a neat and organized workspace for the upcoming audit. This unplanned Saturday turned into a day of teamwork and shared responsibility, highlighting our team's dedication to a smooth audit process.
