WEEK - 2
Week 2: February 19-23
Sorting Papers, Fixing Vintage Books, and Organizing Lot Data
In my second week at DENR, my tasks expanded to not just scanning papers but also delving into the sorting of books, specifically focusing on lot data computations and lot data descriptions. The Alaris Capture Pro app continued to be a valuable tool, making the scanning process efficient. Amidst the paperwork, I encountered a unique challenge – dealing with vintage documents from the 1960s, each holding a piece of history.
In addition to sorting through papers, my responsibilities extended to the realm of books. This included meticulously organizing lot data computations and descriptions. Some of these books, showing signs of wear and tear, needed a bit of care. If the covers weren't in the best shape, I took the time to groom and fix them up. It was a hands-on task that added a personal touch to the preservation of these historical records.
The week's tasks, ranging from scanning documents to refurbishing vintage books and organizing lot data, highlighted the diverse nature of the work at DENR. Each action, whether digitizing papers or giving attention to worn book covers, played a role in maintaining a well-organized and accessible repository of information. The combination of modern technology and hands-on care showcased the holistic approach needed to uphold the integrity of records, ensuring they stand the test of time.
February 24, 2024
This Saturday at DENR was a bit different. Our team leader taught us something new – geodetic engineering. It's about measuring things precisely for maps and land surveys. We learned how to use special tools and software, and it was hands-on. From understanding coordinates to using GPS, it was interesting. Even though it was more work, we saw it as a chance to learn and grow together. It showed how our team can tackle new things, making Saturdays at DENR full of surprises.
